A small publication about the things on a desk: what they're made of, what the numbers mean, and which one suits the way you work.
What this is
Pierce and Oak Lifestyle is a set of buying guides for people who care how their desk looks and works. Keyboards and keycaps. Lamps and light strips. Cable trays, hubs, chargers. Machined pens. Metal puzzles you can leave out unsolved. Fidgets quiet enough for a call.
Every guide answers one question you'd otherwise answer with twelve open tabs: which size, which spec, which of the two. Most of them started as a pin on Pinterest, where we post the short version. The guides are the long version, with the tables.
What we're not
We're not a review site. We don't own the products we write about and we haven't tested them, so you won't read "after three months of daily use" here. That's a deliberate line. A lot of writing in this category claims hands-on time it didn't spend, and readers who own the stuff can tell.
There's no face behind this, either. No founder story, no personality. The guides are the point.
How a guide gets made
- Start from the decision. A guide exists because there's a real choice to make: linear or tactile, 2700K or 4000K, 6 pieces or 24.
- Get the numbers from the source. Published specs, standards documents, material data and makers' own documentation. Where a figure varies between makers, we give the range and say so.
- Read what owners report. Forums, long-running threads and the common complaints that show up again and again. We report patterns, never one person's anecdote dressed up as a finding.
- Name no winners we can't stand behind. Until we can back a specific product properly, the guides tell you what to check, not what to buy.
How we get paid
Right now we don't. There are no ads and no affiliate links on the site. When that changes, some links will earn us a commission, and every page with one will say so at the top. No brand can pay to be included or to change what a guide says. The full policy is on the affiliate disclosure page.
Corrections
If a number is wrong, we want to know. Send a note with the guide and the correction, and ideally where you found the right figure. We fix errors and update the date on the guide.
