The short version: no paid placements, ever, and every affiliate link gets labelled before you reach it.

Where things stand today

As of September 2026 the site carries no affiliate links, no sponsored posts and no ads. Nobody has paid us, sent us a product or asked us to write anything.

Some links on Pierce and Oak Lifestyle will be affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We only link to things we'd actually put on a desk.

Here's how that will work:

  • Any page with an affiliate link says so at the top, before the first link.
  • Commission never decides what goes in a guide or in what order. A thing that pays nothing can still be the answer.
  • We only use the words "partner" or "collaboration" when there's a real signed agreement behind them.
  • Products sent to us for free are labelled as such wherever they appear.

Why we do it this way

Both the US Federal Trade Commission and Canada's Competition Bureau require clear disclosure of any material connection between a publisher and the things it recommends. Clear means up front and in plain words. We'd do it anyway. You should know when someone makes money from your click.
